Beloved Ballston Spa Mayor Christine Fitzpatrick Passes Away at 75
UPDATE: The community of Ballston Spa is mourning the loss of Christine M. Fitzpatrick, who passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 75. Fitzpatrick, a trailblazer and the first female mayor of Ballston Spa, leaves behind a legacy of dedicated public service and community advocacy.
Christine’s family and friends announced her passing with profound sadness, highlighting her role as a beloved wife to the late David L. Maynard, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend. Born on April 21, 1950, in Manhattan, New York, she grew up in Queens with her five siblings, nurturing strong family ties throughout her life.
The impact of Fitzpatrick’s work in public service is immeasurable. From serving as an elementary school teacher to her role as vice president of employee benefits at Macy’s, Inc., she dedicated her life to advocating for others. Most notably, she held the position of executive director of the New York State Adult Day Health Care Council, where she tirelessly supported community agencies.
As mayor, Fitzpatrick transformed Ballston Spa’s finances, reversing a $300,000 deficit into a robust $4.8 million fund balance. Her leadership brought vital improvements in local policies and infrastructure, emphasizing accessibility and community involvement.
“Christine’s unwavering commitment to her community was clear throughout her tenure as mayor,”
said a local community leader. “Her legacy will resonate for generations.”
Beyond politics, Fitzpatrick was known for her adventurous spirit, enjoying reading, travel, and family gatherings. Her warm-hearted nature touched many lives, and she maintained close connections with her numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In honor of Christine Fitzpatrick’s life, her family invites the community to share memories and celebrate her enduring spirit. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, located at 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, December 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 167 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Christine’s name to the Friends of the Ballston Spa Public Library, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, or The Community Hospice. Online remembrances can be shared at www.armerfuneralhome.com.
Christine Fitzpatrick will be remembered not just for her public service but as a beacon of love, support, and inspiration in the lives she touched. Her legacy will live on through the stories and relationships she cultivated throughout her remarkable journey.
