Boulder Residents Demand Action on Noisy Landscaping Equipment
URGENT UPDATE: Boulder residents are raising their voices against the disruptive use of noisy landscaping equipment as fall settles in. Local activist Earl Noe has voiced frustration over the annual use of gas-powered leaf blowers, comparing the noise to “a posse of chainsaw-wielding loggers.” This escalating issue highlights a growing tension between community comfort and local government inaction.
As the leaves begin to fall, the sound of leaf blowers fills the air, prompting Noe to call out city officials for their lack of action in regulating noise pollution. “It’s an annual celebration of civic passive aggression and cognitive dissonance,” he stated. Residents are calling for the City of Boulder to explore alternatives such as financial incentives for quieter equipment or workshops on the use of manual tools like rakes.
Meanwhile, the University of Colorado Buffs cross country teams are also facing a lack of recognition as they prepare for the upcoming NCAA Championships. Notably, both the men’s and women’s teams have not received adequate coverage throughout their season, according to concerned fan Randy Beu. He criticized local media outlets, particularly the Camera and its parent company Prairie Mountain Media, for neglecting to highlight the athletes’ achievements.
“It is truly a shame that the paper that is supposed to cover scholar-athletes can’t even mention their accomplishments on a national stage,” Beu lamented. The absence of coverage raises concerns about the diminishing resources of local newspapers, which have been affected by out-of-state hedge fund ownership.
As these issues unfold, residents are urged to consider the impact of both noisy landscaping practices and media coverage on their community. The call for action is clear: Boulder must address noise pollution while ensuring local athletes receive the recognition they deserve.
Stay tuned for further developments on these pressing matters in Boulder. Residents are encouraged to voice their concerns and advocate for changes that will improve their quality of life and support local talent.
