CD Projekt Red has announced that the highly anticipated game, The Witcher 4, will not be released in 2026. This announcement was made during a Q&A session at the company’s Q3 2025 earnings call, where key executives, including CEO Michał Nowakowski and CFO Piotr Nielubowicz, discussed the status of the game alongside the upcoming Cyberpunk 2.

During the earnings call, Nowakowski addressed inquiries about the development timeline and potential technical challenges that could affect the release. He confirmed that The Witcher 4 is currently in its “full-scale production phase,” but did not provide further details regarding its target release window. “The only thing we’re commenting is that we’re not launching in 2026,” Nowakowski stated, leaving fans with a sense of disappointment.

Despite the news about the release date, Nowakowski offered a silver lining regarding future titles in the franchise. He expressed confidence that subsequent games would be delivered within a shorter timeframe. “Our plan still is to launch the whole trilogy within a six-year period,” he noted, indicating that fans can expect a quicker rollout of sequels following The Witcher 4.

The Witcher 4 gained recognition at this year’s The Game Awards, receiving a nomination for the Most Anticipated Game category. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on November 26, 2025, Nowakowski expressed gratitude to fans for their support while also clarifying that no new content would be showcased at the event.

“I’m very happy to see The Witcher 4 nominated in the Most Anticipated Game category at The Game Awards. Thanks to everyone who has already voted – your support means a lot to us,” he wrote, while also mentioning the absence of new content for the event.

The Witcher 4 is set to be available on major gaming platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. Although an official release date has yet to be confirmed, it is expected to take place after the events of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game will feature a new storyline led by Geralt’s adoptive daughter, Ciri, with Doug Cockle reprising his role as Geralt in a supporting capacity. Ciara Berkeley will voice Ciri, taking over the role from Jo Wyatt, who voiced the character in the previous game.

As fans await further details, the development team at CD Projekt Red continues to work on what promises to be another captivating entry in the beloved Witcher franchise.
