New Testimony Reveals Mangione’s Disturbing Jailhouse Claims
UPDATE: In a shocking testimony during a hearing on December 4, 2024, corrections officers revealed alarming details about Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. While incarcerated in Pennsylvania, Mangione reportedly discussed possessing a 3D-printed gun and shared unsettling views on a variety of topics, including the infamous Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski.
Testimony from corrections officer Matthew Henry indicated that Mangione, apprehended in a McDonald’s following Thompson’s death days earlier, claimed, “I had a 3D-printed gun.” This startling admission came as part of the evidence suppression hearings taking place in Manhattan Supreme Court. Henry faced intense scrutiny from defense attorney Marc Agnifilo, who questioned how Mangione could make such a statement without prior conversation. “You weren’t saying anything to him and out of nowhere he said ‘I had a 3D-printed pistol?’” Agnifilo challenged.
According to Henry, Mangione’s remark was a “non-sequitur,” and he expressed feeling “agitated” while testifying. He maintained that he had no rapport with Mangione, despite the suspect’s seemingly random comments.
In addition to Henry’s testimony, fellow corrections officer Thomas Rivers also recounted his interactions with Mangione, stating that the suspect was kept under heightened surveillance to prevent any potential self-harm, as the facility aimed to avoid a “Jeffrey Epstein-style situation.” Rivers described Mangione as “logical,” “precise,” and “unbothered” during their conversations, which ranged from healthcare debates to discussions about literature, including references to George Orwell and Aldous Huxley.
Rivers revealed that Mangione expressed disappointment over being compared to Kaczynski by online commenters, indicating a troubling self-awareness. The conversations also included discussions about a psychoactive herb, mugwort, which Rivers admitted to trying but could not recall discussing with Mangione.
As the suppression hearing continues today, the implications of Mangione’s statements raise critical questions about his mindset and the circumstances surrounding Thompson’s tragic death.
This developing story highlights the urgent need for clarity and understanding in a case that has gripped public attention since the shocking murder in Midtown Manhattan. Stay tuned for more updates as this case unfolds.
