The Georgia Peanut Commission has appointed Taylor Arnold as its new executive director, a move that is anticipated to strengthen the organization’s support for the state’s agricultural sector. The announcement was made on December 1, 2025, highlighting Arnold’s extensive experience and deep-rooted connection to farming.

Arnold, who has served as the Worth County executive director for the USDA Farm Service Agency, brings nearly a decade of expertise in agricultural assistance programs. His background in agriculture dates back to his childhood, growing up on a family farm in Georgia. This personal history, combined with his professional experience, positions him well to lead the commission.

“I am honored to join the Georgia Peanut Commission and work on behalf of the growers who make Georgia the nation’s leading peanut-producing state,” Arnold stated. He emphasized his commitment to continuing the commission’s focus on research, innovation, and collaboration within the industry.

Joe Boddiford, chair of the Georgia Peanut Commission, expressed confidence in Arnold’s leadership capabilities. He noted that Arnold’s passion for agriculture and his extensive background make him an excellent fit for the role. Boddiford and other board members are eager to support Arnold as he guides the commission into its next phase.

Arnold succeeds Don Koehler, who has been the executive director since 1986. Koehler has played a vital role in promoting and expanding Georgia’s peanut industry throughout his career. In a message about the transition, Koehler expressed optimism about the commission’s future under Arnold’s leadership, believing it will be in capable hands.

Arnold plans to begin his tenure on January 1, 2026. Until his retirement on July 31, 2026, Koehler will remain with the commission as senior executive director, collaborating with Arnold during the transition period.

With Arnold at the helm, the Georgia Peanut Commission aims to continue its vital work supporting the state’s peanut farmers, particularly those in South Georgia. He is committed to advocating for the industry and representing the interests of its farmers as the organization moves forward.
