UPDATE: Residents in St. Louis are bracing for significant snowfall and plunging temperatures this evening as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a forecast that could impact travel and daily activities. Snow is expected to begin shortly, with a 50% chance of snow before 1 a.m., leading to potentially slippery roads.

As clouds roll in today, St. Louis will see a high near 39 degrees Fahrenheit, but don’t be fooled; a mix of rain and snow is anticipated between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. today. The situation is developing rapidly, with temperatures expected to drop to around 15 degrees Fahrenheit overnight, exacerbated by brisk north winds.

The NWS warns residents to prepare for travel disruptions as conditions worsen. A light dusting of snow could blanket the area, making roads treacherous. “Drivers should exercise caution and prepare for winter weather conditions,” said an NWS spokesperson.

Looking ahead, the weather is set to stabilize after this cold snap. Thursday will see clearer skies with a high near 24 degrees Fahrenheit, and the Hazardous Weather Outlook indicates no hazardous weather from Thursday through Tuesday. However, temperatures will remain chilly, with Friday’s high nearing 39 degrees Fahrenheit.

As the weekend approaches, residents should keep an eye on the forecast, as a 20% chance of rain is expected on Sunday. Early next week, temperatures may rise slightly, potentially reaching the mid-40s by Tuesday.
