Trailer Released for Upcoming Horror Comedy ‘Ready or Not 2’
Searchlight Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2019 horror comedy that captivated audiences. The film is set to hit theaters on April 10, 2026, promising to deliver another thrilling blend of humor and suspense.
Continuing the Story
Once again, the film is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, both of whom previously collaborated on Scream VI. The screenplay is penned by the original writers, Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. The sequel features returning star Samara Weaving as Grace, alongside a talented ensemble cast that includes Kathryn Newton as Abigail, Sarah Michelle Gellar, David Cronenberg, Elijah Wood, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, and Olivia Cheng.
In a recent interview, Elijah Wood revealed that the sequel picks up almost immediately after the events of the first film. The original concluded with Grace escaping the Le Domas family mansion, which was engulfed in flames after her triumph over their deadly games. Wood expressed his enthusiasm about the sequel, stating, “What I love about this sequel is that it really deepens that mythology, so I’m stoked for people to see it.”
A Successful Predecessor
The original Ready or Not was a commercial success, grossing over $57 million worldwide on a budget of approximately $6 million. The film received critical acclaim, achieving a Certified Fresh rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 324 reviews. Its combination of dark humor and horror struck a chord with both audiences and critics alike.
As anticipation builds for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, fans can expect a continuation of the thrilling narrative that made the first film a hit. The trailer showcases a mix of suspenseful and comedic moments, hinting at the film’s ability to maintain the unique tone of its predecessor.
With a strong cast and a dedicated creative team, Ready or Not 2 aims to further explore the intriguing themes established in the original while delivering more of the engaging storytelling that fans have come to love. As the release date approaches, excitement for this sequel continues to grow, promising to add another layer to the franchise’s compelling mythology.
