Vanderbilt University’s offensive coordinator, Tim Beck, has been recognized as a semifinalist for the prestigious Broyles Award, awarded annually to the top assistant coach in college football. The announcement was made on Tuesday night by the Frank and Barbara Broyles Foundation, highlighting Beck as one of the leading candidates for this accolade.

Under Beck’s guidance, Vanderbilt has developed a formidable offense, currently ranked first in the nation in offensive efficiency. The Commodores are scoring an impressive average of 39.4 points per game, placing them eighth nationally. Additionally, they lead the country with 7.54 yards gained per play and have recorded 111 explosive plays this season. Beck’s strategic playcalling has significantly contributed to the team’s success, particularly for quarterback Diego Pavia.

Pavia’s performance this season has made him a standout player, leading the Commodores to a remarkable 10-2 record. His achievements in Beck’s system have positioned him as a contender for the Heisman Trophy. Finalists for this prestigious award will be revealed on December 8, 2023, following the conference championship games.

Despite the impressive record, Vanderbilt did not receive the necessary support from the College Football Playoff committee to secure a spot in the playoffs, remaining at No. 14 in the latest rankings. As a result, the team is now awaiting invitations for bowl games, with strong possibilities for either the ReliaQuest Bowl on December 31 or the Gator Bowl on December 27.

In addition to his team accolades, Pavia has recently earned recognition as the Associated Press Player of the Week and the Manning Award Star of the Week. His feats include becoming the first player in Southeastern Conference (SEC) history to achieve over 400 yards in four consecutive games. He also matched a remarkable record by being the first player since Jayden Daniels in 2023 to pass for more than 250 yards and run for over 150 yards in a single game.

As the season progresses, both Beck and Pavia continue to make significant contributions to Vanderbilt football, marking a notable chapter in the program’s history.
