UPDATE: A 38-year-old man, identified as Christopher Reed, has been apprehended following a tense domestic assault and barricade situation on Glenview Drive in Knoxville. The incident unfolded yesterday afternoon, on October 21, 2023, as police responded to a call from the victim, a woman, who reported she had been assaulted and held against her will.

Authorities report that the victim managed to escape with the help of a friend and was subsequently transported to UT Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers quickly arrived at Reed’s residence located in the 2600 block of Glenview Drive, where he had barricaded himself inside.

As the situation escalated, the Knoxville Police Department deployed Crisis Negotiators and the Special Operations Squad to the scene. After extended negotiation efforts, Reed voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement without further incident.

Reed now faces multiple serious charges, including especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, and theft. He also had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on a previous domestic assault charge.
