Man Arrested After Fire Erupts at Food Lion in Fayetteville

UPDATE: A man has been arrested and charged with a felony after a significant fire damaged the exterior of a Food Lion grocery store near Fayetteville early Tuesday morning. Authorities report that the fire broke out around 6:30 AM at the store located on Raeford Road.

Witnesses described hearing loud popping sounds just before flames engulfed the outside of the building. Fortunately, the store was occupied at the time, but no injuries have been reported. The quick response from local firefighters helped prevent the fire from spreading further.
