Former Royal Butler Weighs in on Prince Harry’s UK Return Speculation
Speculation surrounding Prince Harry’s potential return to the United Kingdom has intensified, prompting inquiries into his intentions. To gain insights, we consulted with Grant Harrold, the former butler of King Charles, who served in the Royal Household for seven years. Harrold’s experience offers a unique perspective on the dynamics within the royal family and the motivations behind Harry’s choices.
When asked about the likelihood of Harry relocating back to the U.K., Harrold was clear in his assessment. He expressed skepticism about any imminent move, stating, “I don’t see it happening right now. He’s happily married and has friendships in America.” This observation comes at a time when tensions have arisen among neighbors of Prince William and Kate Middleton due to a holiday-related disturbance.
While Harrold does not foresee Harry’s return in the near future, he acknowledged that the Duke of Sussex might still long for elements of his former life. “If Harry ever did return to the U.K., it would be because he misses his old life — his work, his friends, his home, and his family, including his father and possibly even William and Catherine,” Harrold noted. He emphasized that any such move would stem from personal motivations rather than external pressures.
Harry’s departure from royal duties was driven by his perception of a restrictive lifestyle. According to Harrold, the Duke has found fulfillment in his current life in the U.S. “He is content in the U.S.,” Harrold confirmed, expressing his belief that Harry’s commitments and family ties in America further diminish the chances of a return.
As discussions surrounding Harry’s future continue, attention has also turned to Meghan Markle, whose stance on relocating to the U.K. remains ambiguous. Harrold indicated that Meghan does not view the U.K. as her home. He asserted, “No, I don’t think she would. She prefers the States, the lifestyle, the climate, and the environment.” He added, “I think she enjoys visiting London, but she didn’t want to live here; otherwise, they wouldn’t have moved.”
The complexities of Harry’s potential return are compounded by his family obligations. With a spouse and two children to consider, Harrold acknowledged the challenges involved. “If circumstances allowed, he would probably choose to come back in the future, but he still has a lot of current commitments in the U.S.,” he explained.
This discussion occurs against the backdrop of Meghan facing scrutiny amid reports concerning her estranged father’s health, including accusations of “hypocrisy” following news of his leg amputation. The intersection of personal and public life continues to shape the narrative surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
In summary, while speculation about Prince Harry’s return to the U.K. persists, insights from Harrold suggest that both he and Meghan are firmly rooted in their current lives in America. Any future moves remain contingent on personal motivations and circumstances that are yet to unfold.
