DOJ Establishes Second Amendment Section to Strengthen Gun Rights

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced the creation of a dedicated Second Amendment section to bolster the enforcement of gun rights across the United States. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon made the announcement on Monday, indicating that this initiative aims to address significant challenges faced by citizens, including the rising costs and lengthy delays associated with concealed carry permits.

The assistant attorney general also pointed out that many jurisdictions are imposing unreasonably long delays and are enacting laws that may infringe on rights protected under recent Supreme Court precedents.

Dhillon highlighted the importance of gun rights for vulnerable populations, including women and individuals with disabilities. She stated, “Gun rights equalize the ability of those of us who might otherwise be more vulnerable to protect ourselves.”

In her remarks, Dhillon reiterated the DOJ’s commitment to defending the Second Amendment.
