S. Chris “Sonny” Nicosia, Former Councilman, Passes Away at 86
S. Chris “Sonny” Nicosia, a prominent figure in the Lake Elmo community and former St. Paul City Councilman, passed away on November 27, 2025, at the age of 86. His contributions to local governance and his entrepreneurial spirit left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Born and raised in Minnesota, Nicosia was preceded in death by his children, Bobby, Dawn, and Kristi, as well as his sister, Tanny Armstrong. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Roxanne Nicosia, daughter Lynne, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reflecting a legacy of family that was central to his life.
Throughout his career, Nicosia owned and operated several businesses, showcasing his entrepreneurial skills. He served on the St. Paul City Council during the 1980s and was also a member of the St. Paul Port Authority, where he made decisions that shaped the local landscape. His dedication to public service was evident in his work, and he was respected by both colleagues and constituents.
Nicosia cherished his time at the family cabin, where he enjoyed activities such as golfing and watching NASCAR. His love for travel and spending time with relatives and friends highlighted his vibrant personality and zest for life.
A heartfelt acknowledgment goes to Lakeview Hospice and Care Apparent for their compassionate care during his final days. The family expressed gratitude to all who visited and supported Nicosia, demonstrating the strong community ties he fostered throughout his life.
A service to honor S. Chris Nicosia will take place on December 19, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, located at 4600 Greenhaven Drive, White Bear, MN. A visitation will occur one hour prior to the service, allowing friends and family to pay their respects.
Nicosia’s legacy will remain in the hearts of many, as he is remembered not only for his public service but also for his unwavering commitment to his family and community.
