Michigan State University Earns No. 2 Spot for Social Media Engagement

Michigan State University (MSU) has achieved a remarkable milestone by ranking second in the nation for social media engagement among higher education institutions, according to the **2025 Higher Education Social Media Engagement Report** produced by **Quid** and **Rival IQ**. This recognition marks the second consecutive year that MSU has positioned itself among the top ten universities in this category, climbing from fourth place in **2024**.
The report evaluated data from all Division 1 and 2 institutions, utilizing a weighted formula to generate an overall engagement ranking score. MSU’s strong performance across various platforms includes rankings of 11th on Instagram, 14th on Facebook, 16th on X, and 28th on TikTok. The findings highlight that the top-ranked schools maintain an active online presence, boast substantial followings, and demonstrate high engagement rates with their audiences.

Ellen Doepke, director of social media within University Communications and Marketing at MSU, emphasized the significance of this achievement. “There is no community quite like the one Michigan State has, and this ranking demonstrates that Spartan spirit,” she said. “Both online and in real life, Spartans show up for each other.”
This ranking underscores MSU’s dedication to fostering a sense of community among its students and alumni, helping them stay connected with their university.
