Urgent Recall: Salmonella Risk Prompts Egg Brands Alert

URGENT UPDATE: Two egg brands have been recalled due to potential salmonella contamination, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall now includes Kenz Henz and Black Sheep Company eggs, both traced back to a facility in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. This alarming development is crucial for consumers as salmonella can lead to serious gastrointestinal issues.

FDA inspectors discovered that 40 samples from the facility tested positive for seven different strains of salmonella, raising concerns for public health. While no illnesses have been reported, the FDA urges consumers to check their homes for the recalled products, especially given that eggs with recent expiration dates might still be in fridges.

The affected products include:
– **Kenz Henz** 12-count packages of “Grade AA Large Pasture Raised” eggs, marked with UPC code 86949400030 and best by dates from October 11 to October 17.
– **Black Sheep Company** 12- and 18-count cartons of “Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs,” with best by dates from August 22, 2025, to October 31, 2025.

The FDA has indicated that the contaminated eggs may have been distributed to various companies in Arkansas and Missouri, where they might have been repackaged under different brands. Consumers are advised to either dispose of the eggs or return them to the store for a refund.

Health officials warn that salmonella can cause serious health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations including young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include severe diarrhea, stomach cramps, and fever.

As this situation develops, the FDA will continue to provide updates on any further brands that may be implicated in this recall. For now, consumers must act quickly to ensure their safety.

Stay tuned for more updates on this urgent public health matter.
