Urgent: Arson Suspect Arrested After Redwood City Apartment Blaze
BREAKING: A suspected arsonist has been arrested following a dramatic apartment fire in Redwood City early Saturday morning. Firefighters rushed to the scene on the 1300 block of Marshall Street at 7:35 a.m., where they discovered that the fire may have been intentionally set.
According to the Redwood City Police Department, the suspect, 35-year-old Eliaser Hernandez-Valadez, returned to the scene later in the evening, leading to his swift arrest. Authorities confirmed that investigators from both the police and fire departments identified him as a possible suspect after examining the fire’s origins.
All residents were safely evacuated, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the fire caused significant damage to three apartment units, displacing three individuals. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the victims as they recover from this traumatic event.
Hernandez-Valadez faces serious charges, including arson to an inhabited dwelling, reckless burning, and a probation violation. He has been booked into the San Mateo County Jail as the investigation continues.
