URGENT UPDATE: A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Fresno County, California, this week as two sisters were killed in a devastating crash on Tuesday night. The incident occurred on Belmont Avenue, just west of Brawley Avenue, when the driver, 21-year-old Angelina Nino, lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a horrific outcome.

Authorities report that Nino was speeding and failed to stop at a stop sign before the car veered off the road. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 14-year-old sister, Rayla Piedra, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. A 27-year-old man who was also in the vehicle sustained injuries and is currently hospitalized.

The family is grappling with the immense loss as they remember the young girls. Lorraine Quinonez, the sisters’ aunt, expressed the family’s heartbreak in an emotional statement to Action News. “So the weight of it all, it’s heavy, because it’s not just one, it’s both of them, both of our baby girls,” Quinonez shared. “We all helped raise them, so we all had a portion with them. I’m just trying to be as strong as I can for my sister.”

With Rayla’s 15th birthday approaching on November 8, the family is devastated by the loss of their beloved girls. In light of this tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been established to assist the family with funeral expenses. Community members are encouraged to support this cause and help lay the sisters to rest.

As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with additional information about the crash to come forward. This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the dangers of speeding and the impact of reckless driving.
