South Carolina Mom Catches 12-Foot Alligator Just Months After Baby
BREAKING: A remarkable feat in South Carolina has captured national attention as Brittany Livingston, only months after giving birth, successfully caught a massive 12-foot, 597-pound alligator. The astonishing catch has led to her being dubbed “Gator Girl,” with videos of the creature circulating widely, including one showing the alligator in their pickup truck at a West Ashley McDonald’s drive-thru.
The Livingstons, who reside in South Carolina, gained fame after their exhilarating hunt, which concluded in the early hours of September 2025. Just after 3:00 a.m., they managed to kill the alligator after a lengthy struggle, showcasing their determination and skill. “We had a lot of eyes on us,” Brittany remarked, as onlookers cheered and McDonald’s employees stepped outside to witness the spectacle, as reported by Live 5 News.
For five years, Brittany applied for an alligator hunting tag through the state’s lottery system, which is designed to manage the alligator population. In 2025, her perseverance paid off when she was finally selected in Unit 4, covering the Pee Dee region. “You gain preference points each year,” Brittany explained, highlighting the competitive nature of the hunt, with over 12,000 applicants vying for only 1,400 available tags.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources oversees this lottery system, aiming to maintain a balanced alligator population. “The goal is not to eliminate alligators,” stated Jay Butfiloski, a former alligator program coordinator. “It’s to allow some harvest, which helps manage the population and reduce nuisance issues.”
The Livingstons’ grueling battle with the alligator lasted for hours, culminating in a successful shot that ended the hunt. This unique story of a new mother balancing motherhood and her hunting ambitions is resonating with many, drawing attention not only for its sheer excitement but also for the dedication it represents.
As the news spreads, many are left wondering what this means for future hunting seasons and how the Livingstons will capitalize on their newfound fame. Will Brittany continue to pursue her passion for hunting? Stay tuned for more updates on this captivating story.
