Funeral Services Set for Fallen FDNY Firefighter Patrick Brady

UPDATE: Funeral arrangements have been confirmed for FDNY firefighter Patrick Brady, who tragically lost his life while battling a fire in Brooklyn. The 42-year-old hero, an 11-year veteran of the department, experienced a medical episode on Saturday night while operating on the roof of a fire at 9407 Kings Highway.

Brady’s wake will take place at Marine Park Funeral Home in Brooklyn on Friday, November 14, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.. His funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Francis de Sales in Belle Harbor, New York. The service will also be streamed live on the FDNY website for those unable to attend in person.

Authorities report that Brady suffered a cardiac arrest while responding to the all-hands fire. Fellow firefighters and FDNY EMS provided immediate assistance, and he was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Earlier Sunday morning, fellow firefighters and first responders honored Brady’s service with a bunting ceremony at his firehouse in Brownsville. A dignified transfer was conducted to pay tribute to his dedication and sacrifice.

Brady leaves behind his wife, Cara, and comes from a family deeply rooted in the fire service, with both brothers, Jimmy and Brian, serving as FDNY firefighters, alongside numerous cousins and uncles in the department. He was a resident of Far Rockaway, Queens.

This tragic loss resonates deeply within the community, highlighting the risks faced by firefighters every day. As preparations for the funeral proceed, the outpouring of support for Brady’s family reflects the profound impact he had on his colleagues and neighbors.
