UPDATE: A 32-year-old Provo man has been arrested and faces 12 felony charges after allegedly distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to an undercover officer. Authorities confirm that Josue Daniel McBride was taken into custody by the Lehi Police Department on November 10, 2025, and is currently being held without bail at the Utah County Jail.

The investigation began when an undercover officer posed as an adult male with a 13-year-old nephew on a Reddit forum. The officer’s post, designed to gauge responses to sexual attraction towards minors, drew an immediate reply from McBride, who allegedly used emojis indicative of sexual interest in children.

According to court documents, the interaction escalated quickly. McBride allegedly expressed interest in the officer’s “nephew,” inquired about explicit photos, and offered to share videos of minors engaging in sexual acts. Disturbingly, McBride sent videos featuring a child between 10 and 12 years old being sexually assaulted, along with other explicit content.

The undercover officer’s communications with McBride revealed a disturbing pattern of solicitation for nude photographs and explicit acts involving minors. When the officer did not respond promptly, McBride attempted to re-establish contact, further asking for evidence that the officer was not law enforcement.

The case highlights a severe issue within communities regarding the exploitation of children and the use of digital platforms for such illicit activities. Officials urge anyone with information about CSAM to report it immediately to law enforcement.

This alarming arrest raises critical questions about the safety of children online and the urgent need for preventive measures. Authorities are continuing their investigation into McBride’s activities and any potential accomplices.

As this case develops, more information may emerge about McBride’s background and possible connections to other individuals involved in similar crimes. Community members are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
