Vernon A. Nathe, a beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in 1937 in Clarkston, Washington, as the youngest of five siblings to Elizabeth and Peter Nathe. His legacy includes a life filled with service to others, love for his family, and dedication to his passions.

A Life of Service and Family

After graduating from Washington State University, Nathe served in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed in Germany. Upon returning to the United States, he settled in Mountain View, California, where he met his future wife, Lou Elsa Voegtly. The couple shared a fulfilling marriage that lasted for 60 years and together raised three sons: Michael, Matthew, and Jonathan in their home in Novato.

Nathe was an entrepreneur who ran his own company, Nathe Food Service, while also holding a significant position at Dominican College in San Rafael. Later, he became the owner of West Brooklyn Pizza, further establishing his presence in the local business community.

Passions and Community Engagement

A devoted Christian, Nathe was an active member of his church community, contributing regularly and enjoying his time in the choir. His love for sports was evident in his long-standing loyalty to the San Francisco 49ers. He held season tickets from the days of Kezar Stadium through Candlestick Park, eventually passing these tickets to his sons when the team relocated to Santa Clara.

In addition to his sports enthusiasm, Nathe was an avid golfer and a proud member of the Marin Country Club. Friends and family remember him as a loyal companion, always ready to lend support and share in joyful moments.

Vern Nathe is survived by his wife, Lou Elsa, their three sons, and four grandchildren, along with his sister, Ethel, and numerous nieces and nephews. His contributions to both family and community will be deeply missed.

A memorial service is scheduled for November 22, 2025, at Our Lady of Loretto, located at 1806 Novato Blvd, Novato. The service will begin with a Rosary at 10:30 AM, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and celebrate the life of a remarkable man.
