West Virginia Secures Commitment from Four-Star Tackle Kevin Brown
West Virginia University made a significant stride in its recruiting efforts for the 2026 class with the commitment of four-star offensive tackle Kevin Brown. The announcement came during a live segment on The Pat McAfee Show, marking a pivotal moment for the Mountaineers as they enhance their roster.
Brown, a standout from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, previously pledged to Penn State in July 2024. However, following the midseason dismissal of head coach James Franklin on October 12, he reopened his recruitment. His decision to join West Virginia follows a focused recruitment process that saw the Mountaineers and Ohio State emerging as the leading contenders.
At 6-foot-5 and weighing nearly 285 pounds, Brown is recognized for his agility, strength, and versatility on the field. He is currently rated as the No. 49 player nationally by 247Sports Composite, with a rating of .9757. Additionally, he ranks as the fifth-best offensive tackle and the second-best player in Pennsylvania. His ability to perform in multiple positions, including tackle, tight end, and H-back, showcases his potential to become a multi-year starter at the collegiate level.
The recruitment process accelerated after Brown’s visit to Morgantown on October 28, where he reportedly left a strong impression. Following the visit, he drew further attention by wearing West Virginia gloves during his next game and sharing the images on social media. This move hinted at his growing affinity for the program.
Brown’s legacy connection to West Virginia adds depth to his commitment. His father, Tim Brown, played as an offensive lineman for the Mountaineers from 1999 to 2004 under former coach Rich Rodriguez. This familial tie may have influenced his decision as he considers the opportunities that await him at his father’s alma mater.
Throughout his recruitment, Brown attracted interest from numerous top-tier programs, including Georgia, Ohio State, and Alabama. His decision to join West Virginia reflects the program’s growing appeal in the competitive landscape of college football recruiting.
As the Mountaineers continue to build their 2026 class, Brown’s commitment signals a promising development for West Virginia’s future on the gridiron. With his skills and potential, Brown is poised to make a significant impact in the coming years.
