Erie County Invests $47.5M in Road Projects for 2025 Season
UPDATE: Erie County officials have just announced a remarkable $47.5 million investment in road infrastructure for the 2025 season, marking a pivotal moment for local transportation. County Executive Mark Poloncarz highlighted the extensive projects undertaken, including the significant $5.5 million rehabilitation of Maryvale Drive in Cheektowaga.
As the county wraps up another successful year of infrastructure improvements, Poloncarz stated, “2025 continued my administration’s history of significant investments in public infrastructure. Over $47 million was invested this year alone, covering 117 miles of roads and five bridges.” This ambitious initiative aims to provide safer and more reliable routes for residents and motorists alike.
The urgency of these developments cannot be overstated, as the county has consistently prioritized public safety and infrastructure. “Just in the last five years alone, we have invested over $250 million in our roads and bridges,” Poloncarz added, underscoring the administration’s commitment to enhancing vital transportation networks.
Commissioner of Public Works Bill Geary also provided insight into future projects, stating, “Over the next three years, thanks to the Bridge New York program, we’re going to be rebuilding 14 bridges.” The estimated costs for these projects range from $2 million to as much as $6 million each, signifying a substantial ongoing investment in the county’s infrastructure.
