Kamehameha-Hawaii Warriors Seek Success Through Team Chemistry in 2025

KEA‘AU — The Kamehameha-Hawaii Warriors are gearing up for the 2025 basketball season with a focus on team chemistry as they aim for a fourth consecutive BIIF Division I boys basketball championship. Following a successful 2024 season where they posted a strong record of 20-3 and secured the No. 3 seed in the state tournament, expectations are high among fans and players alike.

Head coach Mike Scanlan acknowledges the challenges ahead, especially with a roster that lacks significant experience. “We have a lot of new guys who will have to play extended minutes, so it depends on how they step up, and right now they look like they are,” Scanlan said, underscoring the importance of chemistry for the team’s success.

The Warriors will rely heavily on the leadership of their two returning starters, Kaikuakea Kahana-Rowe and Kawohi Huihui. Huihui, an all-around player and team leader, will be heading to UH-Hilo next year to join his sister, Keanu, who plays for the women’s team. This offseason, Huihui has focused on improving his shooting consistency, particularly from beyond the arc. “We just gotta continue working; we have great team chemistry,” he remarked when discussing the team’s potential to repeat as BIIF champions.
