Governor Lamont Hosts Holiday Open House with Santa, Dec. 5-6
URGENT UPDATE: The 35th annual holiday open house at the Governor’s Residence in Hartford invites the public to celebrate the festive season on Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This beloved event, hosted by Gov. Ned Lamont and First Lady Annie Lamont, will feature the enchanting holiday decorations and the chance for families to meet Santa Claus, who will be onsite throughout.
This year’s open house promises to be a memorable experience, as the residence is adorned with beautiful decorations generously donated by local growers and artisans. The event is free and accessible, making it an ideal outing for families eager to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit.
LOCATION: The Governor’s Residence is situated at 990 Prospect Ave., Hartford. Visitors can take advantage of complimentary shuttle services, with pick-up points at the Tangiers Market and the Mandell Jewish Community Center on Saturday. Shuttles will run every 15 to 20 minutes starting at 10 a.m. each day, with the final shuttle departing the residence at 1:30 p.m.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase the 2025 Governor’s Residence Conservancy ornament, which features the iconic Gillette Castle in East Haddam. These ornaments are priced at $25, with proceeds benefiting preservation efforts of the residence.
Throughout the event, visitors are encouraged to contribute to two important causes. Donations of new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots will be collected in a CTfastrak bus stationed outside the residence. Additionally, monetary contributions for Operation E.L.F., supporting military families facing challenges due to deployment, will also be accepted.
“More than 800 service members from the Connecticut National Guard are currently deployed, with another 150 expected to mobilize in the coming months,” officials stated. This campaign aims to alleviate the financial burdens faced by these families during the holiday season.
Musical performances will enhance the festive atmosphere, featuring local artists throughout both days. Notable acts include the Renbrook School’s Select Choir and Plainville Wind Ensemble, ensuring a delightful soundtrack to the holiday celebrations.
This holiday open house is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of community spirit, generosity, and the joy of the season. Don’t miss this chance to experience the warmth of the holidays at the Governor’s Residence. Spread the word and share this exciting opportunity with friends and family!
