Olmsted County Drops Charges Against Woman in Murder Case
BREAKING NEWS: Olmsted County officials have just announced the dismissal of charges against Margot Lewis, the Iowa woman previously linked to a high-profile murder case. This urgent update comes on the heels of Lewis’s conviction for second-degree murder in Hennepin County for the death of Liara Tsai.
On September 22, 2025, Lewis was found guilty of murdering Tsai, a Minneapolis resident, who was tragically stabbed to death in her apartment in June 2024. The case took a shocking turn when Tsai’s body was discovered in the backseat of a vehicle driven by Lewis following a crash on June 22, 2024, at the intersection of Interstate 90 and Minnesota Highway 42, near Eyota.
Initially charged with interference with a dead body in Olmsted County, Lewis’s circumstances changed dramatically after the investigation confirmed her role in Tsai’s murder. In a statement released on November 21, 2025, Olmsted County Attorney Michael Walters explained, “Because justice has been achieved in the Hennepin County case, we have determined that it is in the public interest to dismiss the additional Olmsted County charge.” Walters also commended law enforcement and prosecution efforts across multiple jurisdictions for their diligent work in resolving this complex case.
This development raises critical questions about the broader implications of the case and its impact on the community. While the dismissal of charges in Olmsted County may close one chapter, the haunting events surrounding Tsai’s death remain a stark reminder of the violence that can occur within neighborhoods.
As the situation unfolds, many will be closely watching for any further legal actions or statements from the authorities involved. This case highlights the intricate web of justice, as multiple jurisdictions navigate the aftermath of a tragic crime.
For those following this case, stay tuned for more updates as details emerge. The emotional weight of this story continues to resonate with many, underscoring the importance of justice and the ongoing conversations about safety in our communities.
