FHP Health Center Welcomes New Dental Experts Dr. Kim and Dr. Lee
Dr. Jay Kim and Dr. Daria H. Lee have joined the dental clinic at FHP Health Center, enhancing their capacity to provide comprehensive dental care. Both practitioners bring extensive military experience and specialized skills that are expected to benefit numerous patients in the community.
Dr. Jay Kim’s Distinguished Background
Dr. Jay Kim previously worked as a general dentist at Apra Harbor Dental Clinic in Santa Rita, Guam. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in relocating and setting up a new dental clinic aimed at boosting productivity. His experience also includes positions at the Naval Base Guam Branch Dental Clinic and the Naval Branch Dental Clinic at Sewell’s Point in Norfolk, Virginia. He earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from Boston University, graduating magna cum laude.
Kim’s training encompasses various specialties, including endodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics, reflecting his commitment to delivering comprehensive dental services. His proficiency in CAD/CAM dentistry facilitates the rapid production of dental crowns, and he successfully implemented Genesis for the dental department, ensuring a smooth transition to military electronic health records.
Licensed to practice in both Guam and Virginia, Kim holds BLS Certification from the American Red Cross. Notably, he achieved a dental operational readiness rate of 97% for military personnel deployments and ranked highest in production among Navy dental lieutenants during his credentialing tour. Rose Grino, R.N., of FHP Health Clinic, emphasized Kim’s military dentistry background and leadership, stating, “Dr. Kim’s innovative approach to dental care and his commitment to military families align perfectly with our mission.”
Dr. Daria H. Lee’s Extensive Experience
Dr. Daria H. Lee recently served as a Dental Officer in the US Navy at USNMRTC Guam and aboard USS Osborne. Her expertise in restorative treatments, extractions, endodontics, and advanced dental procedures significantly impacted military personnel and their families. As interim department head, she managed staff and equipment while developing Standard Operating Procedures for Infection Control.
Lee earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, where she also served as a floating instructor in the Explorations in Dentistry program. Her specialized training includes CEREC/CAD/CAM technology and ceramic veneers, highlighting her dedication to advanced dental care.
With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University, Lee has developed strong skills in understanding patient behavior. Throughout her military service, she maintained a remarkable 99% dental readiness for naval sailors and led patient safety audits. Her accolades include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2022 and the Patient Care Safety Champion Award from US Naval Hospital Guam in 2021. Lee is fluent in both Korean and English and holds active dental licenses in Guam and Michigan.
Grino praised Lee’s comprehensive dental care background, stating, “Her innovative approach to dental healthcare and her commitment to serving military families align perfectly with our mission.”
With the addition of Dr. Kim and Dr. Lee, FHP Health Center is poised to enhance its dental services, providing quality care for military families and the broader community.
