Marin County Welcomes Festive Holiday Events for All Ages
The holiday season in Marin County is bustling with a variety of engaging events designed to bring joy to residents and visitors alike. From fun runs to festive hunts, there is something for everyone to enjoy as the season unfolds.
San Anselmo’s First Tutu Turkey Trot
Kick off the holiday festivities with the inaugural Tutu Turkey Trot in San Anselmo, set for 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Participants are encouraged to don their favorite tutus for this 2.2-mile loop that starts and finishes at Wade Thomas Elementary School, located at 150 Ross Ave.. For those looking to extend their run, an optional additional 1-mile “Leftover Loop” is available. The registration fee is $22, and proceeds will benefit the YES Foundation, which supports programs within the Ross Valley School District. Elf Hunt in Downtown San Rafael
From Saturday through January 5, families can partake in the annual Elf Hunt organized by the Downtown San Rafael Business Improvement District. Participants will search for 31 elves that have “escaped the North Pole” along Fourth Street from Lincoln to H Street. Those who successfully locate all the elves and submit a completed map to Mike’s Bikes or via email to [email protected] can enter to win a festive gift basket. This event is free to enter, and additional details are available at downtownsanrafael.org/elf-hunt. Sarah Tipple, director of the Downtown San Rafael Business Improvement District, highlighted the event’s intent to foster community spirit, stating, “This event is a wonderful way to bring families, friends and visitors into downtown San Rafael during the holidays.”
The holiday celebrations continue with the Holiday of Lights and Winter Wonderland event in downtown San Rafael. Scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, this spectacular gathering will feature a tree lighting ceremony, live entertainment, food trucks, warm drinks, and more. Marin Country Mart’s Festive Gathering
On Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m., the Marin Country Mart will host a holiday party and tree lighting ceremony at 2257 Larkspur Landing Circle in Larkspur. Attendees can enjoy a delightful performance of the “Nutcracker” by the Marin Ballet, carols sung by the Marin Girls Chorus, and cookie decorating activities for children.
