Nez Perce County Property Tax Bills Mailed; New Parking Access Available
Property tax bills for Nez Perce County are currently being mailed out, with payments for the first half of 2025 due by December 20. The county treasurer, Rebecca “Missy” McLaughlin, has announced improved access to her office, following recent renovations in the area.
The completion of a new parking lot, which replaced the old courthouse that was demolished last summer, has made it easier for residents to visit the treasurer’s office. “The main parking lot is now open with access from both 12th and 13th streets,” McLaughlin stated. This change addresses previous concerns about limited parking and confusing access to the courthouse.
Residents should take note of the payment deadlines. The first half of property tax payments must be submitted by December 20, 2025, while the second half is due on June 20, 2026. To ensure accuracy in processing, taxpayers are advised to include payment stubs or parcel numbers with their submissions. Payments can be mailed to P.O. Box 896, Lewiston, ID 83501, but must be postmarked on or before the due date to avoid any late fees. For those mailing payments on the deadline, McLaughlin encourages them to visit the post office and request a hand-stamped envelope.
Additionally, a dropbox for payments is conveniently located at the corner of F and 12th streets.
In a related matter, McLaughlin mentioned that Avista, a local utility company, successfully challenged its property taxes. This outcome will result in repayments to Avista from the county, the city of Lewiston, and local school districts. Consequently, property taxpayers will bear this cost, which is indicated on tax bills under the line marked “JDGMNT.”
For inquiries regarding property tax bills or if a bill has not been received, residents can contact the treasurer’s office at (208) 799-3030 or email McLaughlin directly at [email protected].
With these updates, Nez Perce County officials aim to enhance the experience for taxpayers and ensure a smoother process for property tax payments.
