In-N-Out Expands to Tennessee with Three New Locations
In-N-Out Burger is set to open three new drive-thrus in the Nashville suburbs this week, marking the chain’s first foray into Tennessee. The locations in Lebanon and Antioch will open on December 10, 2023, with the Murfreesboro site following on December 12, 2023. This expansion is part of a broader strategy aimed at increasing the chain’s presence, bringing the total number of In-N-Out restaurants to 431 across 10 states.
The anticipation surrounding In-N-Out’s entry into the Southeast has been notable, although local news agencies have not yet reported expected crowd sizes for the openings. The expansion reflects the brand’s commitment to growth, following the announcement of plans to establish up to 35 new locations in Tennessee over the coming years, according to The Tennesseean.
Leadership Moves and Future Plans
In-N-Out’s headquarters currently resides in Irvine, California, but the company plans to relocate its leadership to Baldwin Park, its original home, by the end of the decade. Additionally, the establishment of an “eastern hub” in Franklin, a suburb of Nashville, is in progress. Construction for a new 100,000-square-foot office building at 1948 Double Double Drive commenced in September 2024, with an expected opening in 2026.
Owner and president Lynsi Snyder stirred considerable media attention earlier this year when she expressed her desire to move her family to Tennessee during a podcast, citing challenges of raising a family and conducting business in California. Although her remarks elicited a mix of responses on social media, Snyder clarified that the company would not abandon its roots in California.
Experienced Management and Competitive Wages
The newly opened restaurants will be managed by seasoned In-N-Out veterans, boasting a combined experience of over 60 years within the company. Employees at these locations will start at an hourly wage of $17.50, which is markedly lower than the starting rates of $22-$23 in California.
As part of its ongoing expansion strategy, In-N-Out has also listed another upcoming location on its website at 1951 Double Double Drive in Franklin. This indicates the company’s focus on establishing a strong foothold in the Middle Tennessee market.
In-N-Out continues to capture public attention with its signature offerings, and the excitement around these new openings highlights the brand’s potential for growth in new territories. As it prepares to serve its first customers in Tennessee, the company remains committed to its founding principles while adapting to new markets.
