Salesforce Acquires Doti AI for $100 Million to Enhance Search Tech
Salesforce has acquired Israeli startup Doti AI in a deal valued at approximately $100 million. This strategic move aims to enhance Salesforce’s enterprise search capabilities and reflects an increasing focus on artificial intelligence in accessing internal knowledge across various platforms. Founded just last year, Doti AI describes itself as a “Work AI” company dedicated to breaking down knowledge silos among enterprise tools such as Slack, Jira, and Notion.
Doti AI’s platform leverages contextual AI to assist teams in efficiently surfacing information and automating internal responses. For example, it can answer questions within Slack channels without requiring repeated prompts. Earlier in January 2023, Doti AI successfully raised a seed funding round of $7 million led by F2 Venture Capital, which underscored investor confidence in the company’s innovative approach.
Strategic Value in Real-Time Data Access
The acquisition signals that Salesforce perceives significant strategic value in Doti AI’s methodology for facilitating real-time, cross-platform data access. As Salesforce continues to develop its Customer 360 platform, this acquisition enhances its aim to deliver more intelligent and integrated workflows. Doti AI’s technology aligns well with Salesforce’s broader vision of creating seamless interactions across its suite of services.
This latest acquisition adds to a series of strategic purchases made by Salesforce in recent years, each focused on improving data quality, reliability, and accessibility. Notable acquisitions include Zoomin, aimed at structuring unstructured content; Own Company, which focuses on data protection and compliance; and Tenyx, known for developing AI voice agents. The most significant purchase was Informatica, which specializes in cloud data integration and governance. Collectively, these acquisitions are designed to build agents capable of not only communicating with customers but also possessing a depth of understanding about the data they handle.
Enhancing Marketing and Operational Efficiency
Doti AI’s ability to unify internal knowledge across disparate systems enhances Salesforce’s growing suite of AI tools, providing a crucial context for their functionality. This capability is particularly beneficial for marketing and operations teams, as it paves the way for a future where AI-driven agents can respond not only more quickly but also with information drawn from the entire enterprise.
With this acquisition, Salesforce is positioning itself to lead in the evolving landscape of enterprise search technology. The integration of Doti AI’s innovative solutions will likely contribute to more dynamic and efficient interactions within organizations, ultimately benefiting both employees and customers alike. As companies increasingly seek to harness the power of AI to streamline their processes, Salesforce’s investment in Doti AI stands out as a significant step towards realizing that goal.
