Daniel Stern Explains Absence from ‘Home Alone’ Anniversary Events
Daniel Stern, best known for his role as Marv in the beloved film series Home Alone, has confirmed that he will not attend any anniversary events marking the movie’s 35th anniversary. The actor, now 68, expressed his reasons for staying away from public celebrations, highlighting his preference for a quieter lifestyle.
In an interview with People magazine, Stern stated, “I don’t leave my farm. It’s no offense to the movie. I’m just … a phone call, Zoom call, I’m in. but… I’m a bit of a homebody.” Stern currently resides on a farm where he balances his time between sculpting and maintaining the property, which includes caring for cattle and citrus trees.
Despite his absence from public appearances, Stern appreciates the enduring popularity of Home Alone. He acknowledged that the attention he receives can be overwhelming. “I love knowing that everybody loves it but, like, actual people come at me and say, ‘We love it.’ It’s a little overwhelming sometimes,” he remarked.
Stern’s co-star, Macaulay Culkin, has been actively participating in anniversary events, engaging fans across the United States. Recently, Culkin shared his enthusiasm for the franchise, revealing an idea to reprise his role as Kevin McAllister in a new Home Alone movie, more than three decades after the original film’s release.
As the anniversary celebrations unfold, fans continue to reminisce about the holiday classic that has become a staple of festive viewing. While Stern may not be present, his contribution to the film and its legacy remains significant, reinforcing the enduring charm of Home Alone in the hearts of audiences worldwide.
