The Historical Society of Woodstock is set to host a screening of the short film “Vanishing Village” on November 1, 2023. The event will take place at the society’s Eames Museum, located at 20 Comeau Drive, from 15:00 to 16:00. This screening marks the film’s debut and is based on Will Rose’s book, “The Vanishing Village.”

Narrated by Lewis Arlt, the film includes visuals from Woodstock in 1903, highlighting significant historical elements from the book’s first chapter. Following the screening, Arlt, along with co-producer Janine Fallon Mower, will engage attendees in a discussion about the film’s creation process.

Event Details and Participation

The event is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $20. This donation includes a copy of Rose’s book, which provides further context to the film’s narrative. Additional copies will also be available for sale at the event.

For those interested in attending, further details can be obtained by contacting the organization via email at [email protected].

This screening presents a unique opportunity for community members and visitors to explore Woodstock’s rich history through a cinematic lens, fostering a greater appreciation for the area’s heritage.
