Medicom Secures Contracts with VISN 10 and 17, Enhances Veteran Care
Medicom Technologies, Inc. has announced new contracts with the Veterans Integrated Services Networks (VISN) 10 and 17, marking a significant expansion in its engagement with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The company is now fully contracted with 17 of the 18 VISNs, underscoring its commitment to improving image exchange capabilities within the largest integrated health system in the United States.
The recent agreements will facilitate the electronic, bi-directional exchange of radiology imaging and reports between various VA facilities and their community partners. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance community care coordination under the Mission Act, replacing traditional manual processes like the transport of CD-ROMs with a more efficient digital solution.
VISN 17, which serves nearly 500,000 veterans across Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, and VISN 10, providing care for more than 685,000 veterans in the lower peninsula of Michigan, Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Indiana, will benefit significantly from this technological advancement. The new contracts will empower VA staff to effectively locate and retrieve prior medical images from community providers, streamlining patient care.
Malcolm Benitz, President of Medicom, expressed pride in the company’s role in supporting the mission of VISN 10 and VISN 17. He stated, “Our team is committed to providing this technology to help VA staff coordinate care with their community partners. This expansion brings numerous new VA Medical Centers and clinics into the network, and it is a testament to our team’s focus on supporting this critical mission.”
Medicom’s approach to enterprise imaging interoperability employs a federated, peer-to-peer network designed for the exchange of medical images and clinical data. The company’s technology is utilized by various government entities, academic medical centers, health systems, and life sciences organizations. By addressing data silos, Medicom aims to ensure that clinically relevant data is readily available at the point of care.
Medicom Connect facilitates the exchange of enterprise imaging for providers and patients, while Medicom Intellect supports secure data collaboration in precision medicine and life sciences research. These advancements represent a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery to veterans.
