Savannah Run, Walk ‘n’ Roll Event Promotes Inclusivity and Activity
On October 7, 2023, the city of Savannah, Georgia, witnessed a heartwarming display of community spirit during the annual Savannah Run, Walk ‘n’ Roll event. Organized by the Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC), the event aimed to promote inclusivity and encourage physical activity among people of all abilities.
The Savannah Run, Walk ‘n’ Roll brought together participants from various backgrounds, fostering a sense of unity and support. Mayor Van Johnson opened the event with an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity in public events. He stated, “Today, we celebrate not just fitness, but also the strength of our community.”
Participants could choose from a 5K run, a 2-mile walk, or a roll for those using wheelchairs or other mobility devices. The diverse range of activities allowed individuals to participate at their own pace, making the event accessible to all. This year’s turnout exceeded expectations, with around 300 participants taking part.
