TNA Poised to Announce New TV Deal with AMC for 2024
Total Nonstop Action (TNA) wrestling is set to make a significant shift in its broadcasting arrangements, with reports indicating that the promotion is on the verge of finalizing a new television deal with AMC. According to Jon Alba from Sports Illustrated’s ‘The Takedown,’ AMC is currently the leading candidate to acquire TNA’s media rights, with the new agreement expected to take effect early in 2024.
AMC’s promotional materials for 2026 hint at this transition, specifically highlighting a launch date of January 15, 2026, which suggests that TNA wrestling will soon be featured on the network. This development marks the end of TNA’s tenure on AXS TV, a platform that has served as its home for some time.
The move to AMC is significant, as the network boasts a larger reach than AXS TV, reportedly being available in approximately 60 million homes across the United States. This is nearly double the viewership potential of AXS, which is seen as a positive step for TNA’s growth. Such exposure may enhance TNA’s visibility and audience engagement, vital for any wrestling promotion aiming to expand its fan base.
Interestingly, this shift brings TNA to a different platform than any associated with WWE programming. Many industry observers speculated that WWE might facilitate TNA in securing a deal with one of its partners; however, that has not materialized. It is important to clarify that this does not indicate any lack of interest from WWE management, as the two companies have maintained a positive working relationship leading into the new year.
TNA talent are expected to receive formal communication regarding the deal on Tuesday afternoon, which may coincide with the official announcement between TNA and AMC. AMC’s network includes not only the main AMC channel but also BBC America and IFC, along with popular streaming services such as AMC+ and Shudder, expanding TNA’s potential audience even further.
As this transition unfolds, questions linger about the future of TNA’s in-house subscription service, TNA+. It remains unclear whether weekly programming will continue to be available on this platform once the new agreement with AMC is activated. The implications of this deal could reshape TNA’s distribution strategy and its relationship with fans through direct subscription offerings.
In summary, TNA’s potential new deal with AMC represents a pivotal moment for the promotion, aiming to broaden its reach and enhance its overall visibility. As the wrestling world watches closely, TNA’s ability to capitalize on this opportunity could influence its trajectory in the competitive landscape of professional wrestling.
