Two Lafayette Men Arrested Following Chalmette Drive Shooting

Two men from Lafayette face serious charges following a shooting incident that occurred on Chalmette Drive on the morning of March 15, 2024. According to law enforcement, Broderick Brown Jr., 17, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and illegal discharge of a firearm. His alleged accomplice, Danvonrick Foster, 26, is charged as a principal to second-degree murder.

The shooting took place at approximately 11:20 a.m. on the 300 block of Chalmette Drive. Reports indicate that the victim, a 37-year-old male, was involved in a verbal altercation with Brown in the parking lot of the location. During this confrontation, Brown reportedly drew a firearm and shot the victim before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Emergency services transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment, where he underwent surgery. As of now, he is listed in stable condition. Both suspects were later apprehended and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

As the investigation continues, police have urged anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward. The situation highlights ongoing concerns regarding firearm violence and public safety in the region.
