The mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Hollywood actress Natalie Wood continue to captivate public interest, particularly as the anniversary of her drowning approaches. Museum staff and friends of the late star report a series of unexplained incidents linked to artifacts associated with her tragic demise. Zak Bagans, host of HBO’s Ghost Adventures, claims that paranormal activity has surged within his Haunted Museum in Las Vegas as the date draws near.

Wood passed away on November 29, 1981, at the age of 43, after drowning off the California coast while aboard the yacht Splendour. At the time, she was spending Thanksgiving weekend with her husband, actor Robert Wagner, fellow actor Christopher Walken, and the boat’s captain, David Davern. Tension arose that night, as Wagner later admitted to a heated argument with Walken regarding Wood’s career. Hours later, Wood was discovered in the water, leading to an investigation that has since seen various developments.

The investigation into her death, which was reopened in 2011, gained renewed attention in 2018 when Wagner was named a person of interest due to inconsistencies in his account of events. Investigators noted bruising on Wood’s arms and upper body, but the case was declared cold in 2022, with Wagner officially cleared of any wrongdoing. Despite this, speculation surrounding the circumstances of her death has persisted for decades.

Within Bagans’ museum, strange occurrences have reportedly intensified, leading him to believe that Wood’s spirit remains restless. He describes incidents such as a shadow figure appearing in the exhibit, a page of a book turning on its own inside a sealed case, and a commercial-grade glass panel inexplicably shattering. Bagans stated, “There is poltergeist activity in that room. A sealed case, a commercially graded case with heavy-duty sealant, filled with items from the exhibition, fell apart. It broke like something was inside it trying to get out.”

The collection at the museum includes items from the Splendour, which Bagans acquired nearly a decade ago after meeting with Davern and Wood’s sister, Lana Wood. Among these artifacts is a table where Wagner allegedly slammed a wine bottle during the argument on the night of her disappearance. Davern recounted that the force was sufficient to topple two candles, which now sit on display alongside the table.

Photographer Tom Knapp, who has collaborated with Ghost Adventures, reported capturing a shadow figure in the Wood exhibit in 2017. The image shows the figure positioned near a porthole-style window, further fueling the intrigue surrounding her legacy. During filming at the museum in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bagans experienced what he believes were direct connections to Wood. He sensed an unusual presence while moving a mannequin into the exhibit and received a message from Davern shortly after, describing strange occurrences at his home in the Philippines.

Davern, who briefly continued working for Wagner after Wood’s death, has publicly suggested that Wagner pushed Wood from the yacht. Wagner has denied this accusation and did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Mail. Representatives for Walken also did not reply to inquiries.

Bagans recounted another poignant moment that Davern shared with him, stating, “Dennis Davern messaged me saying the spirit of Natalie was in his living room, he was sobbing.” He added that he too felt an emotional weight during this exchange, describing it as feeling “like I was about to cry.”

At 95 years old, Wagner maintains that the theories surrounding Wood’s death lack substance. In his memoir, he described the speculations as “conjecture,” emphasizing, “Nobody knows. There are only two possibilities: Either she was trying to get away from the argument or she was trying to tie the dinghy. But the bottom line is that nobody knows exactly what happened.”

As the anniversary of Natalie Wood’s tragic death approaches, the mix of nostalgia, mystery, and speculation continues to resonate, drawing attention to both her legacy and the unresolved questions surrounding her final moments.
