The Ragon Institute of Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Harvard University is actively seeking a Computational Immunologist for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. This role is designed for an exceptional scientist with a strong background in computational immunology, artificial intelligence, or machine learning. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in groundbreaking research aimed at harnessing the immune system to combat human diseases.

Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Ragon Institute is strategically positioned in Kendall Square, a hub for research and innovation. Established in February 2009, the institute combines the expertise of faculty from MGH, MIT, and Harvard, focusing on infectious diseases, autoimmunity, and cancer immunology. The Department of Immunology at Harvard Medical School further complements this mission by promoting advances in immunobiology and immunopathology.

Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. or an equivalent degree in relevant fields such as Biology, Computer Science, or Engineering. They should demonstrate a track record of exceptional achievement in either basic or translational research and possess the potential to develop an independent research program that aligns with the institute’s goals. The search for this faculty member is ongoing, with a flexible start date to accommodate the selected candidate.

In addition to research responsibilities, the Assistant Professor will engage in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as supervise student research projects. The Ragon Institute offers a competitive start-up package and access to top-tier laboratory and office facilities, including advanced flow cytometry, microscopy, and BSL-3 facilities. Furthermore, the institute provides an extensive clinical specimen repository, enhancing research capabilities.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to establish an internationally recognized research program, supported by external funding as well as substantial internal resources. Collaboration with other scientists and the ability to mentor doctoral students are essential qualities for this role.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, contact information for three or more references, a strategic statement of research interests, and a teaching statement. Candidates are also required to submit a statement on diversity, inclusion, and belonging, detailing their past contributions and future plans in these areas. Applications should be sent to the designated email with the subject line “Ragon/HMS Computational Immunologist Application.”

The Ragon Institute is committed to fostering a diverse workforce and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds. All qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or any other characteristic protected by law.

This opportunity represents a significant chance for researchers to contribute to impactful studies in immunology while collaborating with leading experts in the field. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply promptly as this is a rolling search.
