Community Remembers Gail K. Wold, 87, Dedicated Musician and Volunteer
Gail K. Wold, an esteemed member of the West St. Paul community, passed away at the age of 87. Known for her unwavering faith and dedication to family, friends, and music, she leaves behind a legacy that touched many lives. Wold’s contributions to her community spanned over seven decades, particularly in her roles as a musician and volunteer.
Born Gail K. Zinschlag, she was deeply involved in her local church and the Minnesota Zoo. For more than 70 years, Wold served as a church musician, and she directed the children’s choir for over 50 years. Her commitment to the Minnesota Zoo lasted more than 45 years, where she volunteered her time and energy to promote wildlife education and conservation.
Janelle Rau and Kevin Wold, her two children, along with their families, survive her. She is also survived by her grandchildren, including Aaron (Kim), Emily (fiancé Jake), Griffin, and Shiloh, as well as her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel. Wold’s brother-in-law, Paul Wold, and several nieces and nephews also mourn her passing.
Wold was preceded in death by her husband, Howie Wold, and her parents, Gil and Ellen, highlighting a family legacy that was central to her life. As a proud graduate of Park High School, class of 1956, she held a lifelong connection to her community and cherished the friendships she made over the years.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2023, from 16:00 to 19:00 at King of Kings Lutheran Church located at 1583 Radio Drive, Woodbury. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, December 20, 2023, at 11:00, with an additional visitation beginning at 10:00. A luncheon will follow the service, providing an opportunity for friends and family to come together in remembrance of Wold’s remarkable life.
Memorials in Wold’s name are preferred, allowing her legacy of service and kindness to continue in meaningful ways. The community is invited to celebrate her life as they reflect on the profound impact she had on those around her.
