Grand Hyatt Kauai Celebrates Halloween with Festive Pumpkin Carving
The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa marked Halloween Day with a vibrant pumpkin carving display, attracting guests and employees alike on October 31, 2023. Celebrating the spirit of the season, the resort organized a two-day Halloween event that featured creative pumpkin designs crafted by various resort departments and employees.
Amy Christmas, a longtime vendor associated with the Grand Hyatt Kauai, expressed her appreciation for the event. “It’s so nice the resort does something like this for the employees,” she said. Although she had not yet seen the displays, she noted that everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves.
Spirits Soar with Costumed Festivities
The pumpkin display was complemented by employees dressed in seasonal costumes, including fairies, butterflies, and superheroes, who animated the resort’s lobby. Guests captured this lively atmosphere through photographs, adding to the festive experience of the day.
On the previous day, the resort hosted the Howloween Canine Costume Contest, which featured a variety of pets competing for both human and animal prizes. This event served as a fundraiser for the Kauai Humane Society pet food bank, showcasing the community’s dedication to supporting local animal welfare.
One standout participant, Maile, an alumnus of the Kauai Humane Society, won the Pet and People category dressed as a hula dancer, her costume swaying with the gentle breeze off Haupu. Another contestant, Ruby, representing the Kauai Animal Welfare Society, impressed judges with her creatively spooky appearance enhanced with corn starch, earning her the title of scariest costume. The cutest animal award went to Waffles, who playfully showcased her Chicken and Waffles ensemble.
Looking Ahead to Holiday Celebrations
Reflecting on the success of the Halloween festivities, Diann Hartman, the resort’s marketing and communications director, stated, “These two days have been a lot of fun.” She also hinted at upcoming celebrations, saying, “We have Thanksgiving, and the lighting of the holiday lights the day after Thanksgiving. We hope to see everyone there.”
As the event unfolded, Amy Christmas was seen playfully chasing after one of the feathers from her flamboyant fortune teller costume. “I’m losing my feathers,” she remarked with a smile. “I predict everyone having a perfect day.” The light-hearted atmosphere and community engagement at the Grand Hyatt Kauai exemplify the joy and togetherness that the holiday season brings.
