Jewish Federation of Cleveland Raises Record $39 Million for Community
The Jewish Federation of Cleveland has achieved a remarkable milestone, announcing that its 2026 Campaign for Jewish Needs has raised an unprecedented $39,035,018. This significant amount was generated through 9,036 gifts from 12,094 donors, showcasing an extraordinary commitment to supporting both the local and global Jewish communities.
The annual Campaign is essential for funding various initiatives aimed at ensuring the community remains safe, vibrant, and inclusive. Notably, the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation played a pivotal role by matching all new gifts dollar for dollar. They also matched any additional contributions that increased by 10 percent or more during the campaign period from September 7 to November 1. Additionally, Brunswick Companies contributed $1,000 for every donor who upgraded to the next Giving Society during a campaign event.
The totals raised were celebrated at the Campaign Closing event held at the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland on December 8, 2023. Amir Jaffa, the general Campaign chair, emphasized the collective effort involved, stating, “This Campaign isn’t the work of one person, but of an entire community standing shoulder to shoulder, showing up for one another and choosing, once again, to build a stronger Jewish future together.” He highlighted how every contribution translates into safety, dignity, compassion, and hope for those in need.
The event also featured special guest Eli Sharabi, an Israeli author and hostage survivor. Sharabi shared his harrowing experience of surviving 491 days in Hamas captivity before returning home on February 8, 2025. His memoir, “Hostage,” recounts a tale of remarkable resilience and courage, resonating deeply with attendees.
In recognition of exceptional contributions, the event honored Allison Brandon, who received the 2025 Ambassador Milton A. and Roslyn Z. Wolf Young Campaigner of the Year Award. Brandon was acknowledged for her dedication to the spirit of tikkun olam, or “repairing the world,” through her roles as co-chair of the Young Leadership Division Campaign and Super Sunday Kickoff.
The Federation’s Board Chair, Jeffrey J. Wild, commended Amir Jaffa for his leadership, stating, “Amir led our community’s annual Campaign with clarity, courage, and heart during one of the most challenging moments our community has faced.” Wild noted Jaffa’s ability to empower diverse voices and foster innovation, leaving a lasting impact on the Federation’s efforts.
The Jewish Federation of Cleveland continues to be a cornerstone of support for the Jewish community, both locally and globally. For further information about the Federation and the Campaign for Jewish Needs, visit jewishcleveland.org.
