Marin County Commemorates Veterans Day with Special Events
Marin County is set to honor its veterans with a series of commemorative events this Veterans Day, which falls on November 11, 2023. These activities, organized by local groups and institutions, aim to pay tribute to those who have served in the armed forces.
Veterans Day Ceremony in Sausalito
The Sausalito Historical Society, in partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Marin Post No. 7816 and the city of Sausalito, will hold a formal Veterans Day ceremony at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2023. This ceremony will take place at the Tracy Way War Memorial, located in downtown Sausalito. The event will feature a flag presentation and the dedication of a new bronze plaque honoring veterans.
Attendance is free, providing an opportunity for community members to come together and show their respect for veterans. This initiative highlights the importance of remembering those who have sacrificed for their country.
Dining to Support Veterans
In a gesture of support, the Trident restaurant will donate a portion of its food and beverage sales to the Sausalito Historical Society Veterans Fund. This initiative runs from Monday through Wednesday, benefiting the Veterans of Foreign Wars Marin Post No. 7816 and other local programs. Patrons who mention they are “dining to support our vets” will receive a poppy remembrance pin, symbolizing their commitment to honoring veterans.
The Trident is located at 558 Bridgeway in Sausalito. Interested diners are encouraged to reserve a table by calling 415-331-3232 or visiting opentable.com.
Musical Tribute at Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium
A third event will take place at the Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium at 10 Avenue of the Flags in San Rafael. The auditorium will host a Veterans Day service starting at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, featuring a performance by the Sewer Band. This musical tribute aims to uplift and engage attendees while paying homage to the sacrifices made by veterans.
As with the other events, admission is free, inviting the community to participate in this meaningful observance.
These events reflect the commitment of Marin County residents to honor and support their veterans, fostering a sense of community and remembrance on this important day.
