Woodland Rotary Clubs Seek Community Input for Legacy Project
The Rotary Clubs of Woodland are inviting local residents to propose ideas for a Centennial Legacy Project as part of their upcoming centenary celebration in 2026. This initiative, in partnership with the Woodland Sunrise and Luna Vista Rotary Clubs, aims to create a lasting improvement that will benefit the community for generations.
Aniek Pflager, who serves as the president for the 2025-26 Rotary year, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, “We want this milestone to mean more than a party. We’re looking for a project that fills an unmet need—something that may not be already planned or fully funded that our community will be proud of in year 100 and year 150.”
Criteria for the Centennial Legacy Project
The Rotary Clubs have outlined specific criteria for the proposed projects to ensure they meet the needs of the community effectively. The projects should have broad community impact, particularly those aimed at benefiting youth and seniors. Additionally, the clubs are looking for proposals that are both enduring and visible, focusing on capital improvements, installations, or amenities that will have lasting significance.
Moreover, the projects must be feasible within the year 2026. This includes having a clear path to necessary permits and partnerships, as well as a sustainable maintenance plan. The clubs are also encouraging collaborative efforts, inviting opportunities for partnerships, volunteer involvement, and co-funding.
How to Submit Ideas
Community members interested in contributing to this initiative can submit their project ideas via the Centennial Suggestion Form available at woodlandrotary.org. Alternatively, ideas can be emailed directly to [email protected], along with a brief description, proposed location, estimated impact, and any potential partners involved.
The deadline for submissions is set for December 1, 2023. This timeline allows the Rotary Clubs to review the proposals thoroughly and select a project that aligns with their vision for a meaningful legacy.
The Rotary Clubs of Woodland are committed to making a significant impact in their community as they celebrate this milestone, and they look forward to innovative ideas that will contribute to the town’s future.
