The City of Batavia, New York, is set to enhance its law enforcement capabilities with the opening of a new police station. Effective from December 8, all police operations will relocate to the new facility located at 31 Bank Street. This development marks a significant step forward for the Batavia Police Department as it aims to better serve the community.

The new police station’s lobby will be accessible to the public on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Residents are encouraged to visit for non-emergency inquiries. Despite the transition, the department’s phone number will remain unchanged, allowing residents to contact the non-emergency line at (585) 345-6350 for assistance.

As part of the opening process, the city has announced that Alva Place will be closed from Bank Street to the Batavia City Center parking lot until construction is fully completed. This closure is expected to facilitate the transition to the new location and ensure safety for residents and visitors. For those visiting the police station, parking is available in the Batavia City Center parking lot.

A celebration marking the official opening, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house, is planned for a later date, according to the Batavia Police Department. This event will provide an opportunity for the community to engage with law enforcement and learn more about the services offered at the new location.

The establishment of the new police station demonstrates Batavia’s commitment to public safety and modernizing its facilities to meet the needs of its citizens. As the city continues to grow, this new hub will play a crucial role in enhancing community policing efforts and fostering a stronger relationship between the police department and residents.
