Carol Stent, Beloved Wife and Advocate for Animals, Passes Away

Carol A. Stent, a cherished figure known for her vibrant spirit and compassion, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Overton, Nevada, on September 22, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving husband, David Nakahara, at the time of her death.
Born on July 14, 1939, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Carol was a member of the Prespolis family, the eldest of six siblings. She graduated in the Class of 1957 from Saint Mary’s of the Annunciation, where she developed lasting friendships with classmates and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
Following her high school years, Carol embarked on a journey of adventure alongside four friends to San Francisco, California, where they all established careers and found partners. Her striking beauty and zest for life captivated many, including Raymond Michael Stent, a medical intern from England whom she met while he was interning at Los Angeles County U.S.C. Hospital.
After Raymond completed his residency at U.C.L.A. and achieved board certification in neurology, he and Carol married at the Wayfarers Chapel. The couple later divorced in the 1980s, but Carol continued to embrace life with enthusiasm.
In a new chapter, Carol found love with David Nakahara, a lawyer based in Torrance, California. The couple married in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 20, 1989. Together, they moved to Las Vegas in 1998, where they shared their lives with seventeen beloved pets, embodying Carol’s passion for animals and the beauty of life.
Carol was not only a devoted companion but also played a pivotal role in caring for David’s elderly parents during their final years. She provided unwavering support and guidance, even while recovering from a stroke that left her partially paralyzed. Her resilience, humor, and profound love left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Her legacy is carried on by her husband, David, and her sisters, Paula Couture of Dracut, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida; Janet Buchino of Randolph, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida; and Helen Botehlo of Conway, South Carolina.
Carol A. Stent will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her love for all creatures, and her ability to illuminate the lives of those around her. As her family reflects on her life, they cherish the memory of a woman who brought joy and compassion to all.
