Denver Nuggets Secure Christian Braun with $125 Million Extension

The Denver Nuggets have solidified their roster by signing guard Christian Braun to a five-year, $125 million rookie contract extension. This deal ensures that Braun will remain with the team through the 2030-31 season. Drafted by the Nuggets in 2022, Braun has quickly become a pivotal player, contributing significantly to the team’s success, including winning an NBA championship during his rookie season.
Braun expressed his gratitude and commitment to the franchise, stating, “It means the world to me. I think that it’s just validation at the end of the day.” He emphasized his loyalty, highlighting that he has remained with the Nuggets since being drafted, without switching teams during high school or college. “I want to be a big part of winning. I want to be a really big part of what happens here and the success that happens in Denver,” he added.
Building a Legacy in Denver
The young guard’s determination is evident as he discussed the importance of winning for his future with the team. “It’s cool to be a Nugget. I want to be a Nugget for my whole career, but I understand that to do that, we need to win,” Braun noted. By securing his contract before the season, he feels more focused on contributing to the team’s success.
Braun’s performance has been impressive, particularly in the 2024-25 season, where he averaged 15.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 steals across 79 regular season games. His shooting statistics reflect his growth as a player, with impressive splits of 58% from the field, 40% from beyond the arc, and 83% from the free-throw line.
Team Support and Recognition
Coach David Adelman praised Braun’s development and the significance of his new contract, stating, “It’s cool to see someone develop here, go through the program, hang a banner. This is what it’s about.” His comments highlight the commitment of the Nuggets to nurture talent and build a winning culture.
As the Nuggets prepare to defend their championship, Braun’s extension is a clear signal of confidence from the organization. The team aims to capitalize on their recent success, and Braun’s continued growth will be crucial in their pursuit of further accolades.
With a solid foundation and a talented roster, the Denver Nuggets and Christian Braun are poised for an exciting future in the coming seasons.
