As the NFL enters Week 8, fantasy football managers face a pivotal moment with six teams on bye. This week presents an opportunity for savvy owners to capitalize on under-the-radar players who may exceed projections. Notable names include quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers who could significantly impact fantasy lineups.

Tyrod Taylor Poised for a Strong Performance

New York Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor is expected to start against the Cincinnati Bengals, making him a valuable option for fantasy teams. With the Bengals ranking 31st in the NFL for points allowed per game at an average of 30.6 and 30th in passing yards allowed at 257.1, Taylor’s matchup looks promising. In his only start this season, he scored 16.68 fantasy points, which he could easily surpass against one of the league’s weakest defenses.

Emerging Stars in the Backfield

Another player to watch is Tyjae Spears of the Tennessee Titans. With increased involvement in the offense, Spears has played 59 snaps over the last two weeks, compared to teammate Tony Pollard’s 56. Pollard has struggled with season-low carry counts recently, while Spears has shown efficiency when given the ball. This week’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts is expected to be high-scoring, making Spears a solid flex option in PPR formats.

Meanwhile, Woody Marks has emerged as the starting running back for the Houston Texans. In a significant shift, Marks out-snapped veteran Nick Chubb 48 to 19 in their last game after the Texans’ bye week. He scored 12.5 PPR points against the Seattle Seahawks, demonstrating his potential. The 49ers have struggled against running backs in the passing game this season, which should favor Marks’ skill set.

Wide Receivers Stepping Up

With Mike Evans sidelined due to a broken clavicle, Tez Johnson of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has a chance to shine. Last week, Johnson recorded a season-high 47 snaps, nine targets, and 15.8 PPR points during a game against the Detroit Lions. The New Orleans Saints rank 27th in points allowed per game at 26.6 and 24th in yards allowed per pass at 7.5, further enhancing Johnson’s prospects.

Lastly, Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens might also be a key player if quarterback Lamar Jackson returns from injury. In the two games prior to Jackson’s absence, Andrews recorded a total of 13 catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns. If Jackson is back in the lineup, Andrews is likely to be a must-start.

As Week 8 unfolds, fantasy owners should keep an eye on these players who are set to outperform expectations. With strategic lineup adjustments, managers can enhance their chances for success in this crucial week of fantasy football.
