The Philadelphia Flyers will seek their first road victory of the season when they face the Ottawa Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday. After a promising four-game homestand where they achieved a record of 3-1-0, the Flyers aim to bounce back from two narrow one-goal losses in their away games earlier this season.

Owen Tippett has been a standout performer for the Flyers. He scored twice in their recent 5-2 triumph over the Seattle Kraken on Monday, marking his third consecutive game with a goal. Tippett has netted a total of five goals in just six games this season, a significant improvement compared to the previous season when it took him 25 games to reach the same number. “I think it makes it easier for that confidence to kind of stick around,” Tippett stated, as reported by NBC Sports Philadelphia. “But at the same point, you can’t get too focused on that. You’ve still got to work on our goal here.”

Tippett is aiming to extend his scoring streak to four games, matching his personal best achieved from November 10 to 18, 2023. Flyers’ captain Sean Couturier has expressed his enthusiasm about Tippett’s current performance. “I think we’ve played together at times in the past, and ‘Tipp’ is hot right now, so just trying to give him the puck and use his shot, his speed,” Couturier commented. He added that the team is focused on maintaining offensive pressure and creating scoring opportunities.

Another key contributor, Trevor Zegras, has also been in fine form. He extended his assist streak to five games by setting up Noah Cates’ power-play goal during the second period against Seattle. Zegras is tied with Couturier for the team lead in assists, both having recorded five.

In contrast, the Ottawa Senators are struggling, having lost five of their last six games. Their most recent outing was a 3-2 overtime defeat against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday. Senators’ defenseman Thomas Chabot expressed optimism despite the loss, highlighting the team’s effort to come back from a two-goal deficit. “We saw the Ottawa Senators tonight,” Chabot remarked, noting their performance as a step in the right direction. He was instrumental in the game, scoring to equalize in the third period.

Chabot had a noteworthy performance the last time the Flyers visited Ottawa, contributing a goal and two assists in a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory on April 13, 2024. In that game, Tim Stutzle also made headlines by scoring the game-winner in overtime.

On the Senators’ roster, Dylan Cozens is making waves, having begun the comeback against Edmonton with a goal just 13 seconds into the third period. This marked his fourth goal of the season and extended his scoring streak to three games. Meanwhile, Shane Pinto continues to lead the team with seven goals, although he was held without a point against the Oilers for only the second time this season.

As the Flyers prepare for this crucial matchup, the stakes are high for both teams. The Flyers aim to build on their recent success, while the Senators will look to turn their fortunes around in front of their home crowd.
