Parsons Lions Club Celebrates 45th Annual Christmas Parade
The Parsons Lions Club held its 45th annual Christmas parade on December 13, 2025, bringing festive spirit to the streets of Wilkes-Barre. This beloved community event featured local members distributing treat bags to children along the parade route, creating a joyful atmosphere for families and spectators.
Parade participants included Wilkes-Barre Mayor George Brown, who joined representatives from the city’s police and fire departments, enhancing the event’s community spirit. The highlight of the parade was, without a doubt, Santa and Mrs. Claus, who captivated the crowd as they made their way through the streets.
Community Engagement and Tradition
Longtime member and founder of the parade, Ed Katarsky, was also spotted along the route, embodying the tradition that has made the event a staple in the community. Fellow member Ed Pesotski delighted onlookers with friendly waves, showcasing the club’s commitment to engaging with the public.
As the parade progressed, children and families gathered to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The smiles on the faces of attendees, such as Jerry and Mike Ladamus, who posed for pictures during the parade, reflected the joy and excitement that the event brings to the community each year.
The Parsons Lions Club has a long history of organizing such parades, and this year’s event was no exception. It provided a platform for community members to come together, celebrate the holiday season, and create lasting memories.
A Celebration of Community Spirit
The participation of local leaders, including Mayor Brown, underscores the significance of community events like this parade. According to club representatives, the event aims not only to entertain but also to foster a sense of togetherness and joy during the holiday season.
The success of the 45th annual Christmas parade serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Parsons Lions Club and its members. Their efforts ensure that traditions continue and that the spirit of giving remains alive in Wilkes-Barre.
As the parade concluded, the presence of Santa and Mrs. Claus left many children with memories to cherish, reinforcing the magic of the holiday season. This year’s celebration was a reminder of the importance of community connections, shared experiences, and the joy that comes from giving.
